FIBREGLASS PROPERTIES

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

The resin is a part of a composite that is chemical corrosion proof. The most frequently used resins (in increasing-importance succession) are:

• Ortophthalic;
• Isophthalic;
• Vynilester.

The fibreglass compounds, according to the chosen type of resin, can be used in applications ranging from simple environmental corrosion to extremely corrosive environments.

MECHANICAL RESISTANCE

The glass fibres are part of a compound to which they confer mechanical resistance. The most frequently used glass fibres are:

• Continuous unidirectional fibres;
• Continuous multidirectional wire mats;
• Synthetic surface coatings.

LIGHTNESS

The standard weight of the fibreglass compounds (approx. 1,75 kg/dm3) allows for a simple handling and installation of the product, let alone the reduced weight on the self-supporting structures.

SELF-EXTINGUISHING

The EUROGRATE® mouldings are created with self-extinguishing resins to low smoke emission, in order to reduce risks in case of fire. The various resins are mixed with "halogen free" additives, without using chloride, bromides etc.

LIMITED MAINTENANCE

Due to the resin's inner properties, the compounds don't require a particular maintenance even after years of extreme applications. This obviously leads to economic savings in time.

ELECTRIC INSULATION

The fibreglass is not an electricity-conductor type of material and therefore the created compounds are ideal/suitable for those applications in which the metal materials require an expensive "grounding".
In some special applications, the product must be a conductor; when so, a particular additive is put inside the resin in order to confer the conductive property to the product.

AMAGNETIC PROPERTIES

The fibreglass is a transparent material which does not interfere with either the electromagnetic and radio waves, or the radars.
